About VISIT

Program Description

Come visit Cal Poly! International students can experience a unique academic environment at our campus in San Luis Obispo. It's a different California, with pristine coastlines, acres of vineyards, unspoiled ranchland, and natural beauty.

VISIT Cal Poly is an excellent way for international students to experience the academic life and culture in the United States. Unlike exchange programs which require a formal agreement between your current university and Cal Poly, this program is based on a short-term stay.

Your academic choices will be made from a list of hundreds of classes taught during the quarter you choose to study at Cal Poly. You can view potential course options by reviewing the Cal Poly Course Catalog. The official list of classes will be available through Schedule Builder several weeks prior to registration.

Please note: In order to maintain student visa status, international students must enroll in 12 units for undergraduates, or 8 units for graduate students.

Students wishing to participate in VISIT Cal Poly should apply as soon as possible.

We are here for you!

Prior to arrival, be sure to read through the helpful resources for New International Students. Upon arriving at Cal Poly, the Visiting International Students (VISIT) office in EPaCE along with the Cal Poly International Center will help you get settled in and accustomed to the new settings and culture.

VISIT Cal Poly assists students with settling into San Luis Obispo, obtaining classes and all other academic related issues, along with helping students with an orientation, maintaining their F-1 status, and assigning a Cal Poly student to be a International Welcome Ambassador to assist students with adjusting to life at Cal Poly and in San Luis Obispo.
